Blackwell was an artist at the Chelsea Physic Garden, employed by the physician and naturalist Hans Sloane. The copper plates were made by Blackwell herself and the paper is handmade cotton. Each is simply mounted and framed in black; a set of prints that is a particularly pretty addition to the home.
